My email components have become corrupt. About a week ago I discovered I cannot mail out, only receive. I tossed my mail folder in my user library and tried to create a new account but the problem remained.

I'm talking about my Server, Comcast email, not Yahoo or Hotmail, etc.

Is there a fix?

Somewhere there is a problem with your SMTP (mail sending) protocol or connection.

- First ensure that the SMTP server name entered in your mailprogram is correct for the provider that you use.

- If the provider supplies webmail, go to the webmail, send a mail to yourself and then try to send a reply to yourself from your mac (mail) program.

- If SMTP is not working you will always get some kind of error showing up on the screen.
- This should provide a clue to the problem.
