You are all wrong.
Black Friday is in reference to Al Jolson's Jazz Singer. It came out on Friday like all movies do.

Don't know much about how good this teaser is from Apple, however, take a look at this site, I found deals from every computer store out there:

Since they are all hoping that it will be a good day for them economically speaking, I hereby suggest that we start calling it "Good Friday".

What?

Dissonance or not, the story made it sound like the author had no clue what the Black in Black Friday, which seemed a bit odd to me for someone who's job (at least partially) it is to cover a certain computer maker's retail operations. If he knew what it really meant, why didn't he just state that?

Yes but does he know what the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch is?

Ok! Who is getting up at 5 A.M. to stand in front of a Apple store for two hours to save $20 on a iPod or $100 on a MacBook?
Not me. I still get heebie jeebies just thinking about the 6 hours I waited to get into Tice's Corner to get my iPhone.

"One, two, five!"
"Three, sir!"
