For the past three years the speech icon has decided it doesn't want to stay on the desktop.
Does anyone know the cause of this? I've been trying to find an answer for the past three years.

I am running a G5, 2.0, system Tiger 10.4.11. The same thing has happened since system X first came out. I use the speech Application all the time. Many Mac users say it doesn't work. It does and it does flawlessly. Use a good noise canceling mic and speak softly. A lot of people think they have to shout or talk loud. I can almost whisper and it will still work.
Anyway, you asked where I'm finding such a thing. Open system preferences. Click on Speech. Click on Speech Recognition. Next to Speakable items, click ON! A speech icon will appear in the lower right corner of the Desk Top.
Apparently you can't help me, cuz you didn't even know what I was talking about. Thanks for your response anyway.
