Review: Another look at iGasUp

I haven't seen an Arco station since I left CA several years ago, but as I recall they have not had their own credit card since some time in the 80's. If the OPIS database relies on gas-company credit cards vs. bank-issued credit cards, that may explain the lack of Arco stations in the list. Just a guess, of course.
Also, sorry to see that gas is just now coming under $2 where you live, we're already under $1.50 in IN, about 45 minutes away from Chicago.

Under $1.50 for premium? Impressive. Oregon tends to have expensive gas because we're one of two states in the country (New Jersey being the other) where the government doesn't trust its citizens to pump their own gas (and/or they want to keep teen unemployment low by providing meaningful, fulfilling jobs to them as pump attendants).

Premium? Sorry, missed that, I thought it was for regular. My Dakota likes the cheap stuff, which is nice since it gets 12 - 15 mpg. I lived in CA for 35 years or so and made it into OR every couple years. I recall getting barked at for trying to pump my own gas there.

Thanks for taking another look at our application. We've made many improvements since the initial launch and are continuing to develop new features as well. We love feedback from our users, so please keep it coming and we'll keep working to make iGasUp the very best gas station finder available on the iPhone.
Sincerely,
Tim W.

ARCO, in California, charges extra for use of credit cards AND debit cards. I?ve seen the charge vary from $.25 to $1.00 per use. Some Valero stations do the same, usually charging and extra 3 to 8 cents per gallon. So far I have not been charged extra at Flyers for using a debit card, though they charge extra for using Credit Card.
Question is, does iGasUp display the cash price or credit price or both when such is not the same?

Free trials are something the App Store doesn't do (yet?). Some developers have created free "lite" versions of their apps to serve as trials, but iGasUp isn't one of those. It's a good bet you'll see all the major chains; the independents and third-tier providers, though, probably won't be included.

Hi Rob and jworth3,
We have over 280 different station brands identified in our active station database, including over 8500 smaller independent or 'unbranded' stations that have reported prices within the past 48 hours.
I think you'll find that we are the most accurate source of retail gas prices around. This is why Microsoft, AAA, Garmin, Mapquest, and others have all selected OPIS as their data provider.
Thanks,
Tim

Griffman,
I'm not able to speak to your situation in Oregon. But I can tell you that in New Jersey, gas tends to be about 25 cents a gallon cheaper than it is in Pennsylvania or New York (Where they have self-service). Why that is can be left up to your own imagination. But taxes and the tendency of the station owner to keep the profit that they would have paid to someone working the pumps are both possible reasons.
So, self-service doesn't always mean cheaper gas.
