Oh, no, I agree with Ted. This is a serious issue. I uses Spaces all the time and when I'm using Word, and forget and switch spaces I have to quit Word cause I'm unable to locate the window I was working in within Word.
This is very bad and should be fixed. I have an older PowerPC based Mac and if it wasn't such a pain, I'd go back to Office 2004. I don't use Office that often, so I haven't put myself through that trouble.
Please, MS or Apple, fix this!

Sure Microsloth, since all other applications work with spaces it's obviously Apples fault.
Seriously, since Microsloths windows and menus have always been non-standard going back to at least system 5 and have never worked with window and menu utilities, why am I not surprised that they don't work with spaces.

interesting how MS blames Apple's implementation of Spaces, yet few other applications on the market fair so badly when faced with Spaces use.
So, let's see now- 1000s of applications work just fine with Spaces, and one (or a couple) don't. Yeah, must be Apple's fault. Nice Microsoft logic there.

I'm not really sure how MS can blame Apple for this, since this is the only App I'm aware of that has Spaces issues like that. As with everything else Microsoft does, Office 2008 is "their way or the highway", despite the fact that they're writing it to run on OS X, not Windows.
It can't be that hard to get applications to behave well under Spaces, I mean even the Adobe apps get it right. And every other app.
This problem is something I noticed last night, and it's incredibly obnoxious. Even Office 2004 didn't have this problem under Spaces. Maybe MS needs to learn how to program better?

A more serious problem for me is the awful compatability between Spaces and Adobe CS4. I can't believe CS4 has exactly the same major problems with Spaces that CS3 had.
Toolbars go blank when switching spaces, windows vanish with no trace. Random switching of Spaces.
Ever since I bought Leopard on the day it came out I have been using 9 spaces. However, yesterday I got so fed up of the CS4 problems I have disabled spaces altogether.
Apple, Adobe, Microsoft - Please sort this out!!

Not sure if this is an Apple or Msft issue (if I had to place a bet I'd blame Msft for all the reasons stated above). However, at the end of the day the entire office 2008 suite is the most unreliable bunch of apps that I have on my MBP.
Excel is particularly suspect. There are a whole range of bugs that cause the app to crash when doing things outside of basic usage like using complex functions, formulas and formatting. Whenever I experience a new crash I check out the msft site and invariably find a discussion that it is a known bug and that they are working on it. I think that the whole suite was rushed out the door just to provide an Intel native version. Frankly I don't find it any faster than 2004 and if I had the time I'd reinstall 2004 as well.
The fact that we need to wait for the next version to get macros again is completely frustrating.
I try to use Pages and numbers but numbers doesn't have some of the functionality that I rely on in Excel and let's face it, for business needs Office is the defacto standard.

I've set my Office 2008 apps to show on every space which helps tremendously.
Thanks!
That really reduced the unasked Space switching and until now I haven't seen the problem with the Formatting Palette being in the wrong Space anymore!
