I really, really like Morocco. It's an iPhone version of Othello or Reversi.
It's a game you can complete in a couple of minutes predictably. It's very basic, but it is a good game.

I'll second TapDefense and add Amazing Sudoku by DavaConsulting and Tris (no longer available).
Oh, and ESPN Cameraman keeps the kids busy for hours. I especially like the fact that it will add new pictures with each update.

Yeah, ESPN Cameraman is a great (and free) app. Some good free games worth checking out: Galcon and Lux. I have also been enjoying Beer Hero (though I think that was a paid app).

I have used Knot Guide on several occasions... particularly tying the xmas tree to the car and bringing home the new mattress.

Love Pandora for music, hands down the best. For news, nothing beats Stitcher. I can get NPR, CNN, and even BBC streamed to my iPhone. I just downloaded the latest version...and it's FREE!

I use TimeScroller to book overseas meeting times, MobileFiles and Datacase for file access and Stickies for quick reminders. I can run overseas meetings with these apps combined with a Skype-in number and the iPhone notes for the cost of a local call.
For fun, it's hard to go past Tap Defense though Ive yet to try Fieldrunners and Deep Green chess has got me playing again.
Considering Ronaldo, what makes it a winner?

I stumbled upon this one and it has become my favorite - WhereTraveler http://www.apple.com...retraveler.html
Even before I get on the plane I'm looking up things to do and places to go - and of course where to get a nice meal with a great bottle of wine.

My favorite app, even though it is very industry specific, performs a valuable function and it works extremely well - it called "Fanlaws" in utilities.

iBreviary for $0.99 or Universalis for a lot more (but more functionality) are great ways to keep up with daily Catholic prayer.
BibleXpress is the best all round Bible for reading, research, notes and more.
ZeptoPad for freeform thinking Curio style
Things for simplicity of use/power and depth balance.
Still waiting for: A good GPS off line map app, among other things.
Enjoy, and Merry Christmas!

I like the new salsa app from Ballroom Dance Channel. It isn't free, but it's a bargain at 99 cents. I can learn the steps and then practice them with my virtual partner, Paul Barris. Guys get to dance with Yesenia Adame. It is easy to follow, and I plan on using it in the New Year as part of an exercise plan. I found it by searching for 'ballroom'.
