I started on MMOs with the original Everquest on the Mac. It was a tight-knit community of players who were dedicated to the game even though Sony had essentially abandoned the Mac version and we were on just one server.

Unfortunately, the release of WoW sucked away many of the EQ Mac players, including myself. I had a fun time leveling to 60 on WoW but ran into a couple problems. First, a technical one, as my aging G4 could not handle 25-person raids. The lag was tremendous and unplayable. Second, the community that I loved on EQ was nowhere to be found on WoW and in fact the players were so immature that it was a real turnoff (I'm an older player, in my 40s).

So I quit WoW. But three years later, just over the past holidays I was tempted back, and I'm more or less playing a solo game hoping that eventually I'll find a guild that is casual and mature. I don't have the time now that I did 3 years ago, but doing a couple of quests per day is still lots of fun.

Several months ago I also tried EVE and gave up. The griefing and the learning curve was too much for me.

I would like to know if there is a shareware o free online game about aircraft (dog fighting) o word war. I could not find any free game online for MAC OSX. I found only ASSAULT CUBE, I play everyday and I love it!. I am on my forty and I love that kind of games about word war or aircraft fighting.
