I also wish they would beef up the export option in general. Include embedded sounds, make hyperlinks more reliable, there's a great deal room for improvement.
Alternatively make a "Keynote Viewer" app for Mac/PC (at least Mac).

Other solutions that provide additional benefits are ProfCast and ScreenFlow. Both can be used to prerecord your Keynote remarks or even record as you make the presentation. Profcast produces an "enhanced podcast" file where ScreenFlow files are QuickTime movies. Both can add chapter markers.
Keynote is getting rather long of tooth and is past due for an update that wows us. It needs to get caught up with the MacOS X core technologies (animation, graphics, audio and video).
