Now that a new bunch of formerly DRM-hampered music tracks become available DRM-free, we are offered a 30? per track upgrade fee. The upgrade works pretty seamlessly, but poses a problem with how to migrate those new DRM-free tracks to the other computers in my household that have duplicates of my iTunes library. What is noteworthy about how iTunes updates the tracks on the computer on which the original ones were purchased is that the new versions neatly replace the old ones in any playlist that contained the old ones. If I simply copy the new tracks to my other computers and drag them to iTunes there, by contrast they'll simply coexist with the DRM tracks in the same library. All playlists will continue to refer to the DRM versions. Deleting the DRM versions from that library will also remove them from any playlist that contained them, without replacing them with their DRM-free equivalents.

Can anyone suggest an elegant solutions around this problem?
