I have a question regarding the installation procedure for iWork. Is it possible to "custom" install only the Pages and Numbers applications and pass on the presentation application? I really have no need for Keynote and I would rather not install it if that option is possible.

You can just drag that application into the trash to get rid of it, after the install. I don't use the Keynote program either but I do keep it on my computer. Sometimes I get e-mails with "power point" and/or keynote presentations in them and use keynote to view them. Keynote will play both presentation programs.
