Accounting Software Help!!

Greetings,
I am a recent convert from the pc world and loving my MacBook Pro.
However, the only issue I have yet to figure out how to solve is accounting software.
I currently use Quicken Home and Small Business which is not available on the Mac Platform.
I checked out Firstedge but a stumbling block is that they do not support converting any quicken transactions...I would have to re-enter a lot of data.
I manage personal bank accounts and download data from the bank.
I also need the ability to generate a small number of invoices and manage a small consulting business.
Appreciate any advise - I've been researching for hours and have not figured out a solution.
p.s. I don't want to run Windows - I love Mac and Mac alone!!
Thank you!

People are moving in droves to the online Quickbooks service. All part of moving to the cloud. :D

Is this compatible with safari?
I will definitely consider it if it is.
Thank you!

To be honest I am not sure. I know it plays well with firefox so there is always that avenue. You might want to poke around intuits support forums to see if any "Mac" issues are obvious.

I was just chatting with QuickBooks online - Windows and IE are required to use it - no go for me.

FYI - QuickBooks Online will work on FireFox & Safari "soon". No date has been announced yet, but it was unveiled at MacWorld.
It is not uncommon to enter your balance sheet from the prior year and begin using a new accounting program without the historical information. It's not ideal, of course, but it is an option.
Some other options for Mac Users:
* QuickBooks for Mac (of course) which has some limitations, but is a good bet for a lot small businesses.
* Xero - You cannot import QuickBooks, but it's a good online double entry accounting system. You can import bank downloads and reconcile them within Xero.
* Clarity Accounting - another online option, but it does not support online banking
* Less Accounting - I haven't used this and cannot recommend it. It looks to be okay for freelancers, but it isn't a full fledged accounting system (not for businesses that use their financial data for more than tax returns). I believe they can import QuickBooks files and it has online banking capabilities.

Looking for 2 years now for something to replace Peachtree for Manufacturing on Windows to go to Mac.
Connected has only 18 months open periods. Not enough. Need at least 12 more periods. While it lists a lot of features there is not enough detail to determine functionality. No mention of assemblies.
Looked at MoneyWorks but no payroll and no fixed assets and no lot/serial control - must have.
Have been trying to get Sage to revive Peachtree for Mac. Had one developer pushing it at Sage; but he has left the company. Anyone else who want to contact Sage please do so and help get the ball rolling.
Anyone else have accounting software suggestions?

I do. Have you tried AccountEdge? I'm a freelance bookkeeper and I recently converted a client's books from QuickBooks to AccountEdge. AccountEdge is a lot more Mac-friendly and has the features you are looking for.

I know this is an old post, but for anyone new to this thread, Easy Books for Mac was recently released. It's possible to sync this with the iOS app of the same name too, so I get to add expenses when I'm out and about and everything appears on my Mac. It's from www.easybooksapp.com.
