I wish they'd offer the programs 'a la carte'... I don't use iPhoto any more (I use Aperture 2.0), I'm not a musician, so I don't use Garageband (how many people REALLY use that program anyways??? I only know ONE person who plays a musical instrument, and even HE doesn't use it), and the ONLY update I wanted from this entire bundle was the iWeb update that allows for FTP file transfers.. definitely not worth paying $79 for. I would have been fine keeping my existing iDVD and iMovie.. if I could have upgraded iWeb alone, I would have been willing to pay $15 or $20 to do so.

If you only have the desire to use one app out of the suite then iLife is clearly not for you. It's better to just take the $80 and put that towards a more full featured application centered around what you want (photos, video, music or web).
I just so happen to like all the programs so iLife is an incredible value for me.
Also people you don't have to be a musician to use Garageband. It does podcasting and has loops so that setting up backing tracks for your videos is pretty easy.
Piscasa is free if you just want photos but it's interface is looking a bit dated. IMO of course.

I think iLife is really coming of age, I am liking this suite a lot. It may just be because maintenance was performed during installation, but this version of iPhoto is MUCH more quick on my G4 machines and I find the interface genuinely improved all the way around.
iPhoto and iWeb are what I use 365, I use iMovie and iDVD for one moderately-sized editing project every Summer. I was intimidated by iMovie at first but jumped in to it before it was mission-critical time, and came out with a much more polished product than when I'd been using previous versions. iLife has been worth every nickel for me.

Great improvements for Iphoto BUT... a major problem I found is that when I have sharing turned on with other Iphoto users (On the same network) , photos lose all of their GeoTags in the swap. I can use export from the file menu but surely the whole idea of the ILife09 suite is to keep things simple for the user!

But the real question is, has Apple fixed the terrible file management system behind iPhoto? Does it still create multiple copies of every picture you import ("original", jpeg preview, modified, separate copies for each iPod or Apple TV you are syncing to, etc.)? While I use Lightroom for most stuff, I have from time to time tried to use iPhoto because of its integration into other Apple software (iMovie, iTunes, etc.). But I always get terribly frustrated because suddenly I have lost 15 GB of hard drive space, even though I told iPhoto not to create new copies of anything.

Sounds a bit like a safety features. I can imagine that not everyone wants to share their photos with the geo location of the photos intact. You never know what pervs may be looking in some cases

I think this is great additions Especially at the Snip at #35 (UK-EDU).
Well worth the upgrade - some of the faces stuff is a bit twiddly - but it did well.
Facebook integration is 100% Laziness and I love its Auto-Facebook Tagging plus Updating (if someone of Facebook tags - it sends it to iPhoto for Analysis)
i cant give a full review as i have only used it for 2 days.
Impressed so far!!
