Layers 1.0.3

This app is awesome, but it has one fatal flaw for me - I love how you can save individual layers as image files directly from the Inspector window (no need to open the fully-layered image in Photoshop), BUT it does not activate the window you are saving as an image before it saves the image - the resulting image file shows the widow in its inactive (gray) state. This app would suit my needs perfectly if it activated the selected window before saving the image when saving from the Inspector window.
If this is possible and I just haven't figured it out, I'd love some advice...

Are you replying to my question? If so, you misunderstood (perhaps because my question is so convoluted). I'm not trying to select multiple layers. What I want to do is this:
Say I take a full-screen screen capture, then open the Inspector window. Within that window I see a list of all the apps and screen elements. I can select one and click the Save button to save only that layer as its own image. Which is perfect for my needs.
What it doesn't do is make that window active before it saves the image. So say I'm trying to save the Evernote layer - I click Evernote in the Inspector window and click save. I open the resulting image and it contains only the Evernote window, exactly as I hoped. But the window is not shown in its "active" state - the window is in its grayed-out state. Not good for creating a product tutorial...

This is a good example of why a timed-capture feature would be useful: You could use the Inspector to choose the items to capture, set the timer for, say, five seconds, and then switch to the desired app.

You'd think this would be an easy update to the software. "When layer X is selected and Save button clicked, make application X active before capturing window." No time delay necessary.
I'm no programmer, but it seems something like that would take about two minutes to code. And for my needs, this functionality is absolutely essential.
I'll cross my fingers...and hope the developer is reading this.

I'm afraid it's a known bug. We'll fix it promptly, probably by 1.0.4, in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, there's an easy workaround: open the inspector window, use it as usual, but when you want to capture the target window, click in it and use the Capture Front Window key shortcut (opt-sh-F, by default).

Thanks so much Dan, Layers team here.
Timer capture, cursor capture and other standard screenshot features, like rectangle selection, are definitively in our roadmap. And others not as common. Defects as Select All will be fixed as soon we discover them. For the first version we've focused in what separates Layers from other screen capture apps. The evolution of the program will follow two main courses: screen capture, of course, but also screen forensics, our tag line: give our users more analytical tools to discover and "dissect" the displays.

Simply amazing... It actually grabs both screens if you are running two monitors. I paid for a license almost immediately..
After reading this article, I realize that I have barely scratched the surface of what this app can do..
