Tried to purchase through MacUpdate at 10:40 PM EST, and getting message that it could not connect with the server to process the order. :(
I had the same problem. I emailed the developers at support@layersapp.com and got a prompt reply. If you write them (an e-mail), they'll give you a coupon code to get it from their site at the MacUpdate price.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did write again, and received a polite reply which said, in effect, "sorry, but we only extended the offer for one day". This, despite the fact I explained that the only reason I was unable to request it again the next day was that I had been deployed to Buffalo, NY (I am a Red Cross volunteer) in connection with the plane crash that had occurred. I was there for several days and wrote to them when I returned.

For what it's worth, I haven't used Layers as much as I thought I might. So perhaps you're not missing anything much.

Purchased Layers, now 1.1.1, based on JN2009 re-mention:
So far, doesn't do much more than optshift4 for me, however I read that a PSD file is created and I do not have Adobe Photoshop, so now that I realize (I think) I require that; what do I procure? I am not aware of any other need for Photoshop at this time, so the objective is to make Layers work.
Q: What is the minimum req'd to make Layers function? Photoshop Elements 6 (90$) or Photoshop 6.0 (609$!) or maybe even something less sophisticated?
Thx

Hi,
to get the most of Layers you need a PSD capable app. You can try a free application, like Gimp for Mac or a demo version of a commercial app (buy it later if you decide so).
Without such apps you can still use Layers to capture in other formats such as bunch of files (one image per display element) or composite, but is capturing PSDs where Layers excels.
You can also try capturing full webpages with Layers 1.1 new feature called WebShots. Just press Option-Shift-W when you visite some page you want to capture. It will be grabbed directly from the browser. Including the hidden part.
Please, contact us if you need further help support AT layersapp.com
Thanks,

Thanks, Julian (sorry don't have appropriate Spanish accent...only French)-
Ended up purchasing Pixelmator directly from AppleStore; didn't like the look, the feel (and the fact that it's "free") of the Gimp site, but too many pressing tech isssues currently...haven't taken the next steps yet...tba.
Do you agree that Pixelmator will allow me to take full advantage of Layers, once I get back into this later?

Yes, you can use Pixelmator to work with PSDs saved by Layers. You won't be able to use layer groups for example (you can disable its creation in Layers prefs) but you can do pretty much everything else: hide/show layers, move them, bring back/front, change opacity, etc.
