I am having a problem using Software Update with my Router. Everytime i click "Update Now" it comes back with an error. I am guessing it is because my router has a firewall. When i plug my DSL modem directly into my computer, and connect using PPPoE instead of DHCP, it will allow me to update fine. Anyone know how i can get around this without unpluging and re-pluging ethernet cables everytime i want to check/use Software Update? I am using an iMac 500, with the D-Link DI-604 router and a SpeedStream 5360 DSL modem.

Hey, i'm from Connecticut also. You probably need to setup port forwarding on your router. You would need to let the router know where to send the info. You would tell the router to forward info from port 80 to your box's ip address. In my case the ip address is 10.0.1.2 as I use the Airport basestation. Let me know how you made out.

Thanks joemama, but i emailed my friend who helped me setup my home network and DSL, and he suggested checking my router firmware. Sure enough, that was the problem. Everything works properly now. images/icons/grin.gif
