Hi
In the process of emptying out a portable HD, I am greeted with kernel panic when I try to empty the trash. So far as I know, there are no locked files in the trash and I have tried using the "hold-down-the-option-key" trick while emptying the trash. There's a lot of data that needs to be emptied -- I don't know of this matters, but I'm just mentioning it in case. The thing is, as far as I know, there isn't any way to pull individual files from the trash folder in order to solve the problem through a process of elimination. When I attempt to move files to the desktop, the files are copied, with the original still sitting in the trash folder. I'm running the latest version of 10.5 on a MacBook Pro with 4 GBs of memory.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
S
