i spilled quite a large amount of water on my macbook. i think it
was at least a glass, i knocked my kanteen and it just went all over my
keyboard. i grabed the kanteen as fast as humanly possible, and then
picked my macbook and turned it upside down. it was on when water
spilled and it shut down by itself. i'm thinking not good
sign:(:( disconnected from power, wiped it... out of frustration
tried to turn it on a couple times, i know better, i should not have
but did anyways... sign of life what so ever... an hour or so
later took out the battery and saw drops of water in there as well:(:(
let it sit upside down on a table, screen hanging down, looks so
sad:(
in the morning, i took out the memory cards and they felt damp on the surface:(:( now it is sitting on my kitchen table, on the side that sun shines in. i left it there for the day, still upside down. (i hope the cats will behave)
only good thing is it was pure
water. i mean pure as distilled, no minerals or electrolytes of any
kind. (only good tasting water on this camus is DI water, yikes!) i'm hoping it did not short out i want to dry it with a hair dryer but saw a couple comments recommending otherwise. what else can i do?
since it shut down by itself, it makes me thinh it shorted out:(:( can it be good sign?, what else can it be?
i need it back SOON, i need to prepare my poster for a conference in 10days and also have a manuscript to finish.. PLEASE HELP!

Here's a thread over at Macnn that offers quite a bit of indepth suggestions for water spillage. A couple of points from that thread. First remove the battery and unplug the computer as soon as the water is spilt on the laptop. This cannot be stated more boldly, the faster you remove the electricity the less likely you'll short out the logic board.
also is to give it several days to fully dry out (without it being plugged in or the battery in the machine).
Because of the staining that typically occurs, apple usually can spot water damage and to that point your warranty is typically voided at this point.
Given the fact that you had distilled water was a good thing (if there was such a thing for water spillage), because the water should evaporate w/o leaving any residual that could cause further problems down the road.
Good luck
