Hmmmm, can't say I agree with Macworld on this one. I have used Calc since the day it was posted and it has performed gloriously. No crashes and nearly Excel file I've thrown at it has translated perfectly. As an airline pilot, I need 100% performance and so far, Calc has given that to me.

Any sheet that mixes string and numeric functions will have issues -- something like this:
ROUND($C$28/(LEFT(E10,2))*$C$29,0)
That's in one of my demo sheets, and it doesn't work at all. Another sheet I had issues with is quite simple -- it's just a loan amortization sheet, but something in the formula structure throws off the import mechanism, and the end result isn't usable.
These are the same four files I used for the large spreadsheet app roundup, and nothing's changed with the files since I did that writeup.
So if there's something going on, I'm not sure what it is. I'm talking with Mariner Software about the issues I was having, and if there's news to share, I'll share it.

I have found a problem with importing Excel (.xls) files created by Numbers. Just about every formula gets the "Unsupported" caption, it would have been much better the just convert what is there it text, then at least one could edit the formula to make it work. Those same Numbers xls files work fine in Excel on PC and Mac.
Having said that, once these issues are solved it looks like just what I have been waiting for since ditching my Palm 18 months ago.

Griffman,
Can't open your (unzipped) comparison spreadsheet: no extension, what format is it in?

Sorry about that -- I made an error. Please re-download the file. Here's the new URL:
