I still can't figure out if it's just a software release or if they're announcing new iPhone hardware as well.

Well, as far as the public is concerned it's just a software update, as that's all we've heard. But I guess with Apple you never know. Though new iPhone hardware would be upsetting, considering I just got my iPhone about a month ago, at least the 3.0 software will work on our phones.

I guess we'll see.

Ironically, I think it'll work on my iPhone! Too funny.

Turn it in turkey! I have no idea what's in store and nobody unless your involved in apple does, so lets just see shall we? But all I can say is it's not going to be just a simple upgrade to the OS, cos why would it be made into such a big deal. Surely just a simple upgrade would be announced on the website? Seems like a lot of trouble and money just to say "ooooh look how smoothly it runs now?" and "it's copy and paste" cos that would dull and people would leave thinking "I cancelled my Botox for that?!"
I think it will be a biggish announcement and probably a sneak peak at hardware for July release or end of year! Done! You heard it here first.

I wish the video they put up on the Apple website of these things was a live feed rather than a recording that doesn't get posted till a few hours after the event. :(

Interesting, this version has a lot of Bluetooth stuff in it. Could we be seeing an updated iPod Touch?

Developers can also use Core Location as basis for turn-by-turn direction applications (score one for my wishlist!). GPS, Wi-Fi, and cell location. There is one catch however: bring your own maps. Due to licensing, they can't use built-in map tiles for turn-by-turn (that'll be Google's API license). But you can use your own maps.

Garmin App, you heard it hear first! :P

A little sigh of sadness from those of us who thought the lack of push notifications meant that Apple would be giving up on push notification and adding some support for background processes.

Aside from people attempting to manipulate stock price, who ever thought that? Apple's reasons were clear and correct.
