I wish Apple would have clarified why the hardware of the original iPhone cannot support MMS and stereo Bluetooth... or if this is just a limitation they are implementing in software to drive sales of the iPhone 3G.

Why no full love for the original iPhone??? I like my original and want to keep it as long as possible...but just like when apple switched over to intel...fewer and fewer things are compatible with the older PPC.

I suspect you are right about them trying to drive 3g sales and entice people to upgrade from their old handset.

Supposedly it's a different radio, which is the reason that there will be no MMS on the original

According to the Q&A... Apple is claiming that because the original iPhone has a different radio that it can't support MMS. I assume that would be the answer to the Bluetooth problem as well.

Different hardware abilities? Maybe they're sending MMS via 3G?

No stereo BlueTooth is probably just a different BlueTooth controller chipset.

In all probability it is not the 3G that they will try to drive sales of, but upgrades to the next hardware update which will arrive, ooh, around about summer time I would think...

Too bad Apple couldn't have worked with AT&T to offer better MMS support for the original iPhone... like sending a text massage with a clickable URL where I don't have to enter in a random message id and password to view the message in Safari.

I can live without MMS and Bluetooth headphones. At least the other main features will work with the original iPhone. Copy and Paste is nice, but I am glad that the rest of the Apple apps will support landscape, especially Mail.

In-app purchasing of upgrades is a terrible precedent. You buy a game but now you don't really get 100% of it. Want that cool weapon in the shooter game? Cough up a couple more bucks. MMOs are thinking about doing this too, instead of a monthly subscription. I will not buy into this scheme.
Now then....where is my 32 GB iPhone?

"Other new features include Note sync with the Mac (or PC) through iTunes"
But will the notes sync with Exchange? And what about syncing To-Do items with Exchange Tasks?

You had me at landscape mode. But I'll have to wait for the dev team to jailbreak it. Can't lose the gloriousness that is SBsettings running in the background.
