You can buy the best machine for OS X or you can buy a Psystar machine and never tell the difference for $1200 less. Beyond that, there are other options like using the EFI-X USB boot with the ability to update the firmware so that you will always be compatible with whatever Apple throws out there for an OS.
For me, I could tell the difference.
But YMMV. It may run MacOS but it is not a Mac.
If you look at the build config you need a PCIe add in card to do FW800.
That's an issue for me. The graphics cards also don't support two Dual DVI ports.
That is also an issue for me.

I'm personally kicking myself for buying the Mac Pro 8-Core, when the Psystar Open Pro will do the job just as well for my needs. There is also the i7 Core coming on line that will be running OS X in the near future. There are certainly more and more options being made available every day instead of just paying more and buying an Apple product to run OS X. You can even install OS X on a NetBook and that will give you a very portable version of OS X that's not offered by Apple.
Very soon Psystar will cease to exist. get while you can. later you will be building your own.
