Microsoft ad says that Macs are too cool for its customers

"lmfao Apple actually sells a 13-inch notebook for $999... what a joke. If the MacBook was $599 it would make more sense but $999? Come on. This isn't "premium" - this is a spectacular rip-off. A $999 Dell XPS gives you a 15inch screen, 4GB of RAM, 500GB of hard disk space, an 8600M 256mb GPU. "

Like the Staples ads -- "That Was Easy" -- if you do not like paying the price Apple, Inc. charges you buy the item that in your opinion gives you value for your money that is being expended. Simple really. Complaining that the price of the MacBook is a joke will get you nowhere. Now ... off you go and buy your Dell!

Furthermore, a Dell $999 XPS will also not give you Mac OS X but a seriously sucky OS from Redmond and an overwhelming craving for expen$ive anti-virus software.

BTW, this post is a response to the quoted text inside the post, not to the post above it like it says in the header. I'm new to this forum, can you tell?

Um, Microsoft Windows
Vista is far superior to OS X - OS X has looks, sure, but is a really
bad OS, from the inferior Dock to the crashings (OS X crashes more than
Vista), to the incompatibility with 90% of the world's software. Oh,
and expensive anti-virus software? I haven't spent a dime on anti-virus
software, and have only got a virus once (which was automatically
removed). OS X doesn't get viruses - it is a virus. Seriously is it
worth spending $1300 or so more to get an OS that looks prettier? Heck
no.

It is a joke, there is no reason for the MacBook to be $999. If it was $799 it would make some sense..... but Apple enjoys ripping off their customers so they will continue to sell their overpriced and underpowered hardware.

Heck, the Mac Pro is the only "pro workstation" to not use workstation graphics (like the Quadro). LOL!!!!

I usually don't ike to get into debates, but I could not wait for this one with Mr. StarWarsEpisode7:

Um, how do I reply in your own terms... I know:

The force uses OS X.

The darkside uses Windows. That's why they were defeated. If the Emperor and Darth Vader would have some joy in their lifes they would still be alive, but since they were very sour from all the frustrations from blue screns and the Windows Experience, that's why they went south with their anger.
If you don't want to buy, and choose to be a Windows guy, good for you. We Mac people like our system, and we also complain when we don't like something about it, but we really like OS X, so let us be, go and join your Zune friends... oh wait, there aren't any ;)

Blue screen? No one has experienced the BSOD since like the Windows 98 days... Vista is far more stable than OS X and it doesn't charge $129 for each service pack.

I like how you mention the Zune's market share (the Zune is a by far superior product, btw) but god forbid a Windows user mentions the Macs nearly non-existent market share - then it comes to analogies like BMW and Ford or McDonald's and an Italian restaurant (yes I have heard these analogies a LOT by Mac users).

I want to buy a Mac, but it's just too expensive. $799 for the Mac Mini is a rip off. That's not premium.

What is actually funny is the fact that in essence the "workstation graphics" cards like the Quadro are really not all that different then their none workstation graphic card counter parts, what make them deferent is the drivers. Now guess, who wright the drivers for the cards offered on the Mac Pro?

Mac "Pro's" don't even have workstation graphics. The Mac "Pro" is regulated to 2D level software - heck, your PhotoShop doesn't even support 64 bit processors, unlike a PC.

Yeah, it's such a pro motion that its Lightwave doesn't have numerous plugins, its Maya doesn't support 64 bit, XSI which... wait isn't even for the Mac, 3DSMax... wait that's not either... well what about AutoCAD 3D? Dang it. Well, at least you can spend $2500 for a "Pro" workstation with a $100 graphics card while I'll buy a $800 PC that will crush it 10 times over.

Fact is Macs are underpowered and overpriced. This is not Bentley vs. Ford or McDonald's vs. Ruth Chris, because Windows is the best, always been the best, always will be the best.

The Zune is a by far superior product to the iPod, which is famous only because it looks cool and was first (let's face it, the iPod was the first REAL hard drive MP3 player). Funny though that the argument doesn't work the other way around, though - Apple has only 3-5% of the market yet somehow the Mac is a superior product?
