You said : "I will assume, based on
what you say above, that you did have the device set to OTA rather than
cable when scanning for analogue channels, and that is why you got
static."

Me: uh, no... I just said that I always got all digital channels, including all non-OTA. I did have it set up properly. I just mentioned it to the other person since it is something important, it just wasn't my problem. Again, in my first post, I said all this when I said my digital was fine. My problem is only analog, and it affests both cable inputs as well as the A/V inputs. This also means that the gain on my cable is not the issue (if you had read the manual you might have mentioned this as a possibility). You never addressed the substance of my complaint, but let's not torture others anymore, OK? You want to act in this fashion, fine, but let all people know to read the posts themselves instead of relying on you.

Lastly, you see I have my name on all my posts in the email. You are posting anonymously. Personally, when I see that someone doesn't care enough about their own opinions to stand up and identify themselves, I discount their gripes. YMMV

Cheers to all, Richard

(If you've made it through this discussion so far, you deserve a treat.)

Rolling back the EyeTV software to an earlier version is pretty easy:

The Elgato Hybrid is great . . . when it works. Unfortunately, it's really shoddily made and simply stops working after a few months. I'm on my third (second replacement) in less tha six months. If only Elgato would get it together and make a durable product, they'd have a winner.

Keep away from Elgato products, they don't last. I had a Hybrid for 16 months which developed the USB 1 error & support basically told me "bad luck" it's out of warranty.

I owned two EyeTV Hybrids and two Hauppauge WinTV 900's (which is the same device with a different casing) and ALL of them developed the USB 1.1 problem. I think it's safe to say that this must be a design fault in the device itself, and frankly i'm apalled to see that these hybrids are still on sale.
