I use it to play backing tracks for my acoustic solo act... since you can not set iTunes to play just one song and freaking STOP.
I'm not about to create 80 1-song playlists to accomplish it.

I bought Air Sharing when it first came out, but I also downloaded FileAid for free a few days back. I honestly haven't had much of a reason to use either of them, but FileAid seems to do quite a bit of the same that Air Sharing does, and I actually liked the way it handled Bonjour networking better.

I use and like Air Sharing, but I wish synching with a folder on my Mac could be automated somehow. Copying over only the parts of a large folder that have changed is tedious, and re-copying the entire folder takes a very long time. And my iPhone isn't recognized as a volume by Carbon Copy Cloner, so synching that way won't work. Any ideas?

I was very disapointed when I bought my iPod touch 32Gig to find out that I couldn't use it as a backup for important files as I did with my iPod 4G 30Gig. With AirSharing I can even view them, which is a vast improvement over my old setup.
Now I use it mostly to view PDFs of equipement I have to set up on location. Way better than carrying around a bunch of paper user manuals !

Unfortunately Air Sharing does NOT support iWork 09 (iWork 08 is supported). The file format is not recongnized and an error message is displayed.
Now I have to choose between using MS Office :( so I can copy my doc to AirSharing or Pages :) and not carry the doc, unless of course I print it to a PDF.

It's important to note that all these air sharing files only work if you have a B/G wireless network, or if you throttle down your N network. This is because of the wireless limitations of the iPhone/touch. I use a Time Capsule at N speeds, and so such file sharing solutions don't work for me.

One major feature that this article doesn't mention, is that in any computer's web browser (on the same local network as your iPhone), you can type in the IP address seen at the bottom of the iPhone app. Then you can browse files, and upload or download files to your iPhone right from the web browser. (As an alternative to using the OS X Finder’s “Connect to Server…" option, and mounting the drive). This web browser method works pretty easily on any platform.

Love this App! Especially PDF and Webarchive reading

I use the Finder for smaller files (<5MB) and I use Transmit for anything larger or when copying more than 10 files.
Transmit does have a Synchronize feature that should handle the more obvious discrepancies between two data sets like missing files or folders. Transmit also supports Automator and AppleScript for automation.
Maybe Rsync can do the job? I just think the OS mounting of the WebDAV volume is really flakey. Or maybe it's just access through the Finder that is flakey and the CLI would work better.

That said, I use the program for recipes I can reference in the grocery store or in the kitchen. The app is missing bookmarks for PDFs or even page navigation. What I really want is a way to browse the internet from within the app and download links etc. to that storage space. Maybe in the new OS Air Sharing can nab links from Safari to do the same thing?say holding down your finger on a link to bring up a context menu.

Anyway I use Air Sharing almost daily and it works really well with Transmit.

This is a great app for transferring small files, docs, excel spreadsheets, pdf. DO NOT USE if you are transferring large files. Go with something that directly attaches to your computer like Phoneview.

I used to use Air Sharing but always had a hard time making a connection. I just assumed it was because I was a techno-idiot and learned to live with it. Then I read about Briefcase on Daring Fireball, tried it, bought it, and haven't looked back since. Much, much, easier to connect to your computer than via Air Sharing. I have no relationship with either company other than having purchased both products. Briefcase is now on the first screen of my iPhone, while Air Sharing is on the last - and all files in it were deleted.
If you can figure out how to connect with Air Sharing you are obviously more technically advanced than me, and so will be fine with Air Sharing - I can only admire your superior proficiency and have no argument with your choice.
