Iphoto will not open, please help!

I have an Intel core solo, and recently tried to put a newer version of iphoto into it, which proved to be a mistake. I still have all my photos, but it replaced my older functioning version of iphoto with the new one, and all that does is jump up and down a few times no matter what I do with it. Does anyone know how I can get the old version back so I can view and work on my photos through Iphoto again?
