Video iPod stuck on OK to disconnect screen - Help!

With a large checkmark in middle of screen. Won't turn off, switch is not on hold, reconnected to computer and it connects, syncs and disconnects. It will access and play content from iPod but goes back to OK to disconnect screen when ejected.

Don't really want to restore and lose all content. Is that the only cure? Go to Apple store genius? Thanks.

When this happens, is the iPod icon still on the desktop? If so, try dragging it to the trash.

Hold down the Play button until it reboots or the middle button and menu until it resets.

Check this site for the various button combinations, they're somewhat dependant on you ipod model.
