I don't see the ability to rent HD either. Buy, yes. Rent, no. Am I missing something?

I downloaded the "Truth in 24" HD movie on my Macbook which connects to my Sony Soundbar via HDMI and then to my Samsung DLP.
The movie will not play when connected that way. My DVDs that I've encoded via Handbrake play fine.
Is there some copy protection issue?

So, does this mean that you can now "move" HD rentals between a Mac and an AppleTV...or is a HD movie rental done on an AppleTV still stuck on the AppleTV? The article does not say.

requires either Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later or Mac OS X 10.5 or later
This is redundant since 10.5 is naturally later than 10.4.10.

The MacBook doesn't have HDMI out, how are you connecting to an HDMI device?

the High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) requires compliant video cards, cables, and displays.

You apparently are missing at least one piece of it.

This was a big issue on the net a few months ago when the MiniDisplay Port came out, which does support HDCP.

I guess my connection is min DVI to DVI and then a DVI to HDMI cable. I'm also using a mini-optical plug to standard optical. It connects to the receiver and then the receiver connects to the TV via HDMI.

Thanks for replying.

One version for Tiger, one version for Leopard.
Or as Noah Bennet is so fond of saying:
"One of us, One of them!"

Mini-DVI does not support HDCP.

On the new computers, you can use a mini-DisplayPort to HDMI cable and it does support HDCP.

According to the Read Me First file:
"HD movies from the iTunes Store are designed exclusively for Apple TV and may not be transferred to iTunes"
Not sure about what Macworld is reporting.
