It's always the last place you left it.

Jason, it's also the last place you look!
Just a note to say that you can also change the color or shape of the Mouse Locator highlight. I've used it for creating screen-capture tutorials.

If you want a lot more functionality then Mouse Locator, you should try OmniDazzle from omnigroup.com which is now free too.

A couple of flicks to the upper left (or wherever your apple menu is) should help you find it.

I used to use MouseLocator, but I got rid of it because it has an annoying bug which causes a white square the size of the mouse locator to appear around the mouse pointer on the screen under some conditions.

this is one of the very few cases were windows has a good feature that is missing on the mac. (for those that don't know, windows has a built in option to allow hitting CTRL to highlight the cursor)

Thanks to kill953 for the OmniDazzle tip. If I want to check if the kids are paying attention to the video tutorials, I'll sprinkle in a little Pixie Dust now and then. http://maclab.guhsd.net/blog/ will never be the same again!

Use Mouse Locator on all my 5 Macs for at least 5 years now, without ever noticing that "bug" using graphic design software plus the regular stuff everyone uses...

Another idea is to press and hold the control button, then scrolling up, it will zoom into the mouse.

I've used Mouse Locater for several years, on three different Macs, and have never seen that problem.

If you have the zoom feature turned on in Universal Access, holding down control and scrolling in with your mouse's wheel/ball will zoom the whole desktop in around the mouse pointer, showing you exactly where it lies.

Mouse Locater can also be configured to target the pointer when the mouse is moved after having been stationary for some period of time.
