If you’ll regularly shoot in low light, seek a camcorder with a sensor 1/3-inch.

I'm confused by this... I've seen some Canon models with 1/2.6-inch. Is that better or worse than 1/3-inch?

1/2 inch is larger than 1/3 inch. So, in general, better.

The info on AVCHD and Mac compatibility is very sparse and could be misleading as written. The latest editions of iMovie and FCE do a great job of downloading and editing AVCHD files. Yes, one needs a Mac with lots of power, but the article doesn't address that part.

Could you clarify: "Smoother but more jagged images"?
