This is looking good. Possible hdmi port as well looks very cool.
The Zune is not a bad device. Most of the time apple fanboys will say it stinks without actually trying it. And the Zune 3.0 software is very good too.

What about those who did try it and say it stinks? Most of the time MS fanboys call people Apple fanboys to detract them from the fact that they don't actually have an argument.

From the little bit of putzing I've done with Zune in the stores, I thought it seemed like a fair device. They did a good job with the presentation, it looks nice. It supports AAC, and now that iTunes is DRM-free there's nothing to block you. Two remaining questions: Does it sync with iTunes, and am I willing to give any of my money to Microsoft? I don't know the answer to the first question, but I do the second. I'll be buying an iPod.

Due out in September... right around the time Apple usually refreshes their iPod lineup. Should be interesting.

I'm not a MS fanboy. I was just saying the criticism the Zune gets is unwarranted. It's a really good device and this one looks even better.

there are actually a lot of good portable media players out there of several brands. but there is only one great one. the good ones compete with each other for <30% of the market. while the great one maintains its hold on >70% despite all that competition.
the Zune HD will attempt to catch up with the 2008 Touch in media capabilities. meanwhile, the 2009 Touch will jump further ahead. and what about apps?
MS should mercifully kill the hardware and just merge the Zune software into WinMobile. the comparison of the Zune to the iPod line is a constant reminder of MS' weakness as a consumer product company - a joke.

I don't mind the Zune, but the fact that it doesn't work with iTunes is a deal breaker, because with my iPod Touch it works with my Windows and OS X machines without issue.
I also shudder at the idea of a PSP running any version of Windows Mobile. But hopefully 6.5 will be a massive departure from its predecessors, because currently it's crap.

This isn't "leaked". This was produced and distributed by Microsoft, with explicit requirements that the pictures be published, but without mentioning that the pictures and info was from Microsoft PR.
This is just the usual Microsoft FUD. Except if Microsoft posted this on their web site directly, people wouldn't believe it was at all real, because they have so often published "this is the product we will produce, with these features etc" and then NOT actually producing anything.
While this Zune might look like an iPod Touch, it is missing a very large part of the iPod Touch experience, namely access to the Apple App Store. Even if the Zune will be able to run WinMobile apps, it just won't compare to what is available from the App Store.

And here I just recently read the Zune staff at Microsoft have been disbanded and the next hardware release of Zunes is to be the last. Not true?

At this point the Zune is not just going up against the iPod Touch. That is only half of it. The Microsoft media player is also going up against the number one digital music retailer and several thousand applications and games.

I'm a big fan of the Zune's amp. I've never been impressed with the amplifiers in the large Ipods. The shuffle (square colored ones) are one of my favorites though because they actually have good sound and the amp doesn't clip when you have a song with some thump. I hope this Zune will be as good as the last ones. The best player I've seen was a Samsung P2. When it came out it was by far the best player with the most options.

I'm surprised by how Microsoft is always playing catch up with the Zune line. You'd think they'd try to jump ahead of the market leader at some point rather than always running a few steps behind. Sure, the Zune will be an iPod Touch competitor. That would be a bit more impressive if we weren't already on the second generation of iPod Touch and looking at the third probably later this year.
Over the air sync is nice, but without over the air battery recharging it isn't too exciting. HDMI out is nice, but are you going to have to use the Zune store to get content that you can play on your TV in that way?
