I've played some of this on an xbox and I enjoyed it much more than Sands of Time precisely because there is less combat. I found the combat in the older game extremely annoying and frustrating. I think I spent more time mashing buttons against the endlessly respawning bad guys in that first big chamber just before the princess showed up than all the platforming in all the other rooms combined. Which was a shame because I love the platforming. I will probably pick this up for my Mac. Or... maybe my next one.

I played this on the PC and found it to be extremely enjoyable. However it didn't take too long to play through once you got the hang of it.
I was able to get all the light seeds on my first round without too much difficulty which left very little replayablility.

As with ANY Transgaming/Cider ports, this game does NOT work with the popular Creative XMod/X-Fi USB sound enhancing module...it's amazing that Transgaming hasn't YET released a patch for this extremely annoying problem.

It may be popular, but so far you're the only one who's talked about this as a problem on our forums, as far as I can tell, so I'm not sure it's that popular with Mac users, at least yet.

But that you're running into problems doesn't exactly surprise me. Cider games also misbehave with my USB headphones -- if I unplug them while a Cider game is active, I won't get sound back in the game until I quit and relaunch it.

Thanks for the review. I liked the Sands of Times games and recently played through the DS version of the game, which is more like the old school side scrollers.
I have largely given up playing games on my Mac and this review helps remind me why. I think it is ridiculous that a game wouldn't play well on a new MacBook Pro. Until they make games that play well on the bulk of machines rather than just souped up rigs I think I'll stick to the consoles.
I haven't even heard of the Creative sound enhancing module or considered the possibility that such a thing exists. Although I can imagine if I bought one I'd want games to work with it, or if I worked for Creative.

In case you still don't know about it; a good piece of kit that really enhances sound output:

p.s.: And no, I don't even consider working for Creative...I just checked the positive reviews and went for it...a completely satisfactory purchase, in my view.

"If you press T on your keyboard to talk, Elika will recount plot points or the blatantly obvious tips throughout the game. For a more enjoyable experience, never press T. "
L M A O!!!!!!!!!!!! So funny! LOL. Hilarious because that's what I've done a lot of in life recently. I "press T" and then get these idiots (think customer service people) telling me stuff I already know. Anywas, I was a HUGE fan of the ORIGINAL Jorden Mechner Prince or Persia 1 (like the 60 minute timer? :D anyone else remember? :) And then the Prince of Persia 2:Shadow and Flame. It's strange how well I remember the screaming medusa heads and sultan guards from the original story line over a dozen years ago. Anyways I completed those (interesting how Two Thrones ended on giant chessboard, like Prince of Persia 2, eh?? Hhmm cool!). And Two Thrones. Playing and beating three Prince of Persias is enough for me. I wont' be purchasing nor playing the recent installment. However, thanks for the review Chris. I enjoyed your candid evaluation of the game.
