Wow, 1.5 GBs required to install!? Man, that's got to be one of the largest games on the app store, although I'm just guessing since I have no way to check that.
While its cool to see this long time classic come to the platform, I wonder if people will be buying it to play it or just say they have it. If the puzzles and story line is the same as it was back then, there isn't anything new to get excited about really.

I don't know...I had Myst when I was like 12 years old on my LC575. I know I couldn't beat the game without using the walkthrough guide at that point, but I think I might be able to do it now! I only vaguely remember the plot and the puzzles, so it'd still present at least some excitement and challenge.

The bigger question is whether or not I can spare 1/8th of my storage for one game...

PLEASE!!!
Hear, hear. I know iPhone is the "hot" platform of the moment, and that Apple doesn't care about backwards compatibility, but some games deserve to be ported to modern equipment and this is one of them. Riven, too.

I bought and downloaded the game last night. It works just like the original, not the 3D version which was the only version that really worked on OS X.
It is sometimes difficult to poke the buttons (fat fingers?) but game play is about the same. You can save multiple positions, and the game starts up where you left off.
Now if we can just get Intel Mac versions of Myst, Riven and Myst III.

Holy cow, there's no way I'm going to put an application on my phone that requires 1.5 gig and occupies 700+ meg. That's just too big.

Now THATS a game I'd love to see! (not saying anything bad about Myst here) though I'm trying to imagine how something like Marathon would actually function on a touchscreen device like the iPhone/iPod touch. Myst I can see, but Marathon required a bit more mouse like control. Still, I'd love to see someone try to bring it.

Yeah, that may be true for many. I've been through the game a few times, both the original and Myst 3D which came out some years back for OS X. So I guess I'm just over it in some ways. I remember a good deal of the puzzles, but I'm sure there would be a few moments of 'now what the heck do I do?' anyway.

I remember most of the puzzles too, but that's not the point. Just being back "in" the games would be such a great pleasure, if you enjoyed them back then the way I did. There's more to replayability than just challenge.

Now that Bungie is an independent company again, is it too much to hope?

Now, a REAL challenge would be to bring Oni to the iPhone. :)

I know someone who would buy an iPod just to play the Manhole...
Bungies is independent now? I didn't know you could buy your soul back once you sold it... :-)
