Try getting a Gmail account. Gmail does a good job filtering spam.

And the very small percentage of people who respond to those spam messages, which eventually causes the bad people to profit from it. If no one responded to spam, then there would be no profit and no one would do it (in theory, at least).

Not likely. If you do not change the domain name that you use, then changing the web hosting site will likely do nothing.

I would suggest that if you want to cut down on SPAM, then don't post your email on your website...use a contact form on the site that uses web page protocols to send the message, not an actual email system. If you put an email address on the site, then web crawlers/spiders can scope it up and put it on SPAM list. FWIW, to some degree, if the email address is already there, then it is too late.

I have been using SpamSieve for a long time and spam gets through VERY rarely. Fabulous product that I have highly recommended to my best of friends!!

Spam can be due to bad IP too. If you are hosting your site on bad ip that attracts a lot of spam. Also, it is recommended to not setup common email addresses such as webmaster, aboutus, contactus, support, abuse etc. Also, never publish your emails on your website. Setup a form that forwards the email to your account. I was on free web hosting for a while and I was getting tons of spam but recently switched hosting provider to Chime Host and so far no spam at all. I did make sure to not publish any emails on my website, so maybe that's helping me.

Like chris said, get a gmail account- google also offers free webhosting, which lets you use gmail and the other great google services through google apps. I strongly suggest this.
