Hi,

I am using an older ibook g4 and when I try to quit Safari it will only work by a force quit.
If I use the Apple + Q or drag down Safari Quit, the color wheel comes on and stays on and will not quit.

Thanks for your help
Sam

Have you tried it in another user account to see if the same thing happens?

But have you tried it with a second user account on either of the laptops? I doubt it will make a difference, but it could help us determine if it is a Safari (i.e. global) problem or a user account (i.e. local prefs) problem.

Not sure what you mean.

Does that mean that you tried it at someone else's house and did not have the problem? If so, I am asking if you created another user account on your computer and tried Safari in that other user account.

What do you mean by "apple network"? Are you running an Airport Extreme Base Station or Time Capsule? If so, have you updated it to the latest firmware?

Not sure if it really matters or not, but I might as well ask...

How are you connecting the computer to the Internet? Wireless network? Or wired network?

Same question when you were at your friends when it worked fine...wired network or wireless network?

If you are willing, I want you to try something...

Hook the computer up to the Airport Extreme with an enternet cable and turn off the Airport on the Mac (you should be able to do that with the little pizza pie symbol in the upper right corner of the screen)...and see if that helps at all.

OK, instead try taking the ethernet cable that goes from the broadband modem (DSL or cable...should not matter most likely) to the Airport Express and unplug it from the Airport Express. Then plug it into the Mac...and reboot. Then see if you can connect to the Internet and see if the same problem happens.
