I did forget about the XBox Red Ring of death thing, but I still content that most of Microsoft's woes are traced to software issues, not hardware.
I think it would be better for you to just back off that statement rather than try to defend it. The XBox and XBox 360 were both problematic from a hardware perspective and they also represent Microsoft's only real attempts at hardware. The Zune for example was little more than a rebadged Toshiba Gigabeat device. The keyboards an mice were essentially small modifications to commodity parts. While I agree that Microsoft has had more problems with software, that's only because that's mostly what Microsoft does. In reality, Microsoft has problems in similar proportions with both hardware and software.
>Just because you don't see Surface computers everywhere doesn't mean they don't work well. I seem to recall the iPod was a rare sight when it first came out, and no one thought it was bad hardware (just targeted at a limited audience).
I'm not really sure where you are going with this. Comparing the obscurity of Microsoft's surface to the iPod is bizarre. The iPod was instantly popular even though it was only available to Macs at first. Celebrities were getting iPods even though they didn't have Macs, making them an instant fashion statement. Surface has been around since the iPhone. Can you even site one example where this device is in use. I'm sure it must exist somewhere... Either way, I don't get the connection between the iPod and MS Surface devices.
