I have been searching unsuccessfully for a simple application that allows me to send a message to another computer on a local area network. iChat can do it, but it is to complicated and only addresses part of the issue. Ideally I would like a menu item in which I can type a simple message of no more that a few lines, and send it to a machine of my choosing in the local network. The recipient is notified of the receipt of the message which gets displayed on top of all applications and is cancelled by clicking on the message. The recipient should be able to respond similalry. This would be something similar to LANMessage, but I can get it to work.
Can anyone give me a recommendation?

Thanks a priori.

iChat is actually not that complicated, just enable bonjour, and everything you've said you want is there
