3 macs in the house.... iMac G5, powermac G4 and iMac Intel, all running the same (most current) versions of all software.
If I create a bunch of audio tracks and import them into iTunes and burn a CD on the G5, the album name and track titles are not recognized on the other computers and when I import them to iTunes it comes in as “audio CD” and “track 1”-whatever for track titles.
If I do the same thing on the G4 or the Intel, all computers read the album name and track titles and are imported with all titles intact.
As an audio engineer, I cannot figure out WTF is going on...... I have gone over and over all settings and preferences... all are set the same on all 3 computers.
Any suggestions?

I need to add that if I import the CD back into the G5, all titles do show up. They are being recorded onto the CD, just not being read on the other computers.??????

I am assuming you are burning these disks as "audio CDs" and not "MP3 CDs". Correct?

If so, then if these disks are "mix" disks, then you will NOT get the track names. Audio CDs get their track names in iTunes by way of the CDDB, which recognized DISKS not tracks. This should help provide some understanding:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CDDB#HowCDDBworks

The end result is that iTunes can only "recognize" commercial disks that have been entered into the CDDB. Thus, just about any commercial CD that you buy will result in track information...unless you happen to be the first person to stick that commercial CD into your computer before anyone has created the track information and uploaded it to the CDDB.

I'm not sure what you mean by mix CDs. These are original audio tracks.

And your answer is very good, except that I am having a problem only on 1 computer.

I can burn the exact same CD on my G4 Powerbook and Intel iMac and the CDs will retain the album name and track name when played on any other computer. When I burn on my G5 iMac, the information just is not there.

Thanks anyway.

I honestly don't know. To my knowledge, it should not work at all with any other computer. I can see it working with the computer you burned the disc on, but to my knowledge, it should not work with other computers.
