That's not a stupid question at all. I suspect that the answer lies somewhere between, "Obviously it's perfectly doable, since MacRumorsLive.com does it quite well", and "Macworld just doesn't have the bandwidth to do that for its vastly larger reader-base."
Of course, MacRumorsLive doesn't have quite the same refined quality of commentary as that provided by our good friends here at Macworld... ;)

Now that I have had some food. Let me say something in retrospective from what I saw at WWDC.
It truly is for developing for Apple products. That said, I think there is too much focus on iPhone. I do appreciate the technology, hardware and software.
But, I am a developer myself, and I do believe we're missing something big where we can make OS X Snow Leopard shine. And that is with the integration of all Apple software.I am quite excited to see Quicktime X. We need Quicktime to show more users its capabilities, Flash and now Silverlight need some serious competition in their face. For a while Quicktime was the 'it' media technology. It has to be back up there.
That's why I think we need an amazing hardware to go with the amazing Snow Leopard. Something I was not clarified on was if it will run on PPC laptops and towers, or only Intel.
I mean, If they're just going to launch it for Intel, then give me a new amazing Intel box, not just a laptop, but a desktop version... if we're talking portable... there needs to be a netbook for that middle work... not as big as the Macbooks but more powerful than the iPhone. That's why we're also missing a middle ground desktop box, not as powerful as a MacPro but more than the iMac.

It never ceases to amaze me when people come into a forum about apple products and hammer down on the company for never doing enough.
Hell -- they could have made a phone that gave you guys a virtual happy ending, and you'd still bitch and moan that it wasn't the best you'd ever had.
Sad...

It never ceases to amaze me when people come to a wide open forum where people can post whatever they want to rant about and people are amazed at what people are ranting about that does not match their same views. Amazing!

Does their lack of implementing these things leave the door wide open? Of course it does. New models, tiers, prices, etc. I look forward to it. I just wasn?t impressed this go-round.
What would I have liked? Like most people I would have liked to see OLED, better camera (better than 3.0), and a forward facing camera for video messaging. iPhone Pro with these things would have been a nice addition to the iPhone 3GS. The missing features on 3G for 3.0 is quite disappointing. I?m thrilled they upped the storage, and boosted the performance rather significantly (double the speed is significant to me). In my opinion, which is what this forum is for, opinions, what has been done just didn?t wow me enough to justify the expense.
I wasn?t expecting a netbook. After all, they did say time and again that they were definitely not getting into that market, so I wasn?t expecting it this year (who knows for next year). I was really hoping for a tablet. Smaller than a macbook, but bigger than an iPhone. Wasn?t expecting it, but was slightly disappointed. Leaves lots of anticipation for next time!
I?m a loyal mac convert and wont be selling off my equipment or my stock just because of a little disappointment with one WWDC presentation.

The world is full of people who, when they see a silver lining, immediately look for the cloud.

wasn't expecting it, but was whimsically hoping they would enable the iphone 3g or 3gs to function like a hard drive, such as the ipod. I don't know if there is something in the architecture that prevents this.
also any functions on the 3gs that are not on the 3g, but can be supported by the hardware, should have had some options to include on the 3g.
most of the announcements for the iphone were already known from scott's OS 3.0 web presentation prior to the wwdc, so there weren't many surpirses on that front. the one i hadn't picked up on was tethering, which is a great delight.
if the macbook pro is replacing the macbook, does that signify the end of the macbook then? i want to get one, just have to justify the price tag

Is this an app I have to buy, or is it included. The only references I can find are the one that's already included in the current 3G, albeit with several upgrades.

The quality of a camera is not measured in megapixels. Especially phone cameras. Most of the time those extra pixels aren't giving you a better picture.

How the hell are they going to give the phone a compass with only software? It requires a hardware device. Likewise, the camera hardware in the 3G is probably not optimized for video, and the voice recognition probably requires more processing power.
Apple might be good, but they aren't magicians. Why do people expect their hardware to be upgradable by software?

Oh yeah, just "add turn-by-turn navigation" as if it were simply a matter of writing a few lines of code. Here's a clue: that's not trivial to develop. Why not leave that to the experts, rather than reinvent the wheel?

I'm thinking you don't have the strongest grasp on what average customers think.
