I like having viewing capabilities on my iPhone now, but I have a couple gripes about this app.
1) The price is a little steep given the WiFi limitation. I wouldn't have a problem with $30 if it worked over 3G as well. But I understand this is AT&Ts limitation. They should have taken this functionality limitation into consideration when setting the final price.
2) There is no way to tell what channel you are watching. The current channel you are viewing should show when you tap the screen to bring up the controls. This is also frustrating when flick to change channels up or down - again it doesn't show what channel you just changed to.
3) 95% of the television station logos are missing when you add channels to your favorites. This includes major ones like CNN. The list is so sparse, I don't even know why they offer the feature.
4) You can't edit your favorites on the desktop unless you are running Sling Player for Windows. Guess who makes the iPhone Sling? Apple! Support the whole platform.
I am patiently awaiting an update and hope some of these issues will be remedied. I have high expectations for $30.

"It gives me the option of watching live video when I’m trapped somewhere boring..."
Because it just doesn't get any worse than sitting somewhere with our own thoughts.

Sorry but Jason has copped out on this review.
The reason, because of the way Slingbox changed there strategy since MacWorld in January, since they have been purchased by Dish.
Nothing in this review tells us if Slingbox had a last second change of heart for us folks that run old Slingbox. Back in March, Slingbox announced that us old timers had to buy a new slingbox for it to work, Jason is that still the case???
I am hearing that Slingbox had a change of heart and making it run on old units, just doesn't support it.
Still with this problem the big overall problem why folks shouldn't buy this product is because of AT&T's death blow not to allow you to run it on it's network. They will let you run Palm and Blackberries to access it, but they won't let it run on a Iphone. That is the whole basis of spending $30 for this application, to be able to access by slingbox from any location around the world.
So if I am forced to use WiFi, why spend the money for slingbox on a small screen. I am going to whip out my Mac Air and watch it on a 13 inch screen instead of a Iphone.
So as far as I am concern, until I can access my "old" slingbox via the AT&T network, I won't spend a dollar on this worthless app, let allow spend $30.
Jason has held back the big reason why you shouldn't buy this app, Jason why is that???
