Try right clicking on just about any web page and select "Inspect element" It's fun. I don't remember if this was in beta or not. Not sure what I'm looking at, since I don't build web pages. but it looks cool.

Yep, it was there.
I've actually kind of grown to sort of maybe like the tabs at the top, too. If anything, it saves a little space. It does break a few human interface guidelines, though.

The "Inspect Element" behavior is quite similar to the FireBug developer extension on FireFox when you hover over a tag in the console. I'm glad Safari has this feature. Now if only IE will follow with something as elegant.

I say make the tab position a choice in the Tab preferences. Yes, on top breaks some of Apple's HIG, but most of us (save for Tog - sorry, Bruce) will get over it soon enough given the gains. And a choice would retain the spirit of "permissive and forgiving" in HIG.

Wow....I cannot visit apple.com/store. It seems that Javascript on my 3 Mac's when enabled (which is the standard config) crashes Safari 4.0.
It needs to be fixed!

At the risk of sounding old, I remember vividly when I first made contact with "the Internet" back in the mid 80's. I think it was on a Commodore, previous to the purchase of my first Mac. It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, feeling excited that I was entering a new age (which I guess, I was). I've had at least 8 Macs and iMacs over the last 25 years, and can remember the growing pains from the original 128K Mac through the current technology that just blows me away. I'm an engineer that took his final exams in college on a slide rule (anybody remember what that is? In the late 60's, it put a man on the moon). Anyway, I find it amusing that your gripes center on whether or not tabs are "above or below". My God, do you not rejoice in how far we've come in 25 years?

I like the fact that they have added more options to the toolbar, and seem to have struck a compromise regarding the page loading status indicator. There are some minor visual tweaks to the tabs themselves as well.
Something that drives me absolutely mad, however, the the lack of a convenient way to sort bookmarks (still). Come on, this is file management 101...
Anyway, V4 has been rock solid for me, no crashes or freezes as some others have reported. However, I do not have any extensions or plug-ins running. Word around the web has it that the various tweaking utilities for the beta do not work with the release version. Not a surprise by any means, just a heads up to folks that you might get some unexpected things if you try to run them.
I like the release, and will continue to use it, although I use Firefox on my PCs and will keep it that way. Just wish the bookmarks thing would be sorted-(bad) pun intended.

So, is there anyway to get the Tabs back up in the Title bar? I enjoyed the compact look and the space that it saved.

I'm just pleased as punch that pressing the "Command-." combination actually stops loading of a web page now - that the betas wouldn't do that sometimes drove me just about street-rat crazy.
