You're still 3? That must be difficult.

I'm glad Apple moved the tabs back to a less freak show-like position. Changing things for the sake of change don't make sense. It didn't look like Google Chrome and usability was hampered by laughter.

I am so happy they moved the tabs back UNDER. It was a usability nightmare. You could never see or realize what tabs were open. I understand how some people would like it but from a usability standpoint - they were almost hidden - it was good to put them back to the "old" way. I do now like the mix of the progress bar at the upper right. BUT the main thing I wish they would fix BACK is the REFRESH button. It is in the wrong location. It should be where it used to be, on the left of the URL window. Maybe they could offer customization so the user could put it where they prefer. Thanks for listening.

There is also a neat little loading bar when you go to open a PDF file in Safari.

Seems very stable, wich is good :) Why did they got rid of the top tabs is a mystery to me,that was a great feature? we're back with those redundant bars now? I guess somebody will come up with a tweak to get it back up there?

Nice to have a final though

A nice new feature is that when you create a new tabbed page (cmd-T, or clicking on a blank space in the tab bar), the new page is your home page and not just a blank. I never figured out how to accomplish this in previous versions.

In the Preferences window, on the General tab, you have the option to define exactly what opens when you create a new tab. Personally, I have it set to Top Sites, but you have the option to do what you prefer.

OK! For the most part I can deal with the changes , but what I want to know is, What on Earth did they do with "Snapback"?
I found "Snapback" to be one of the most useful features of Safari 3, and I was at a loss to find I had to resort to multiple back clicks to get to where I had started on some sites. A return to navigation Hell, as far as I am concerned.
If Apple/Safari is reading any of this, Bring back, "Snapback!"

Wow....I cannot visit apple.com/store. It seems that Javascript on my 3 Mac's when enabled (which is the standard config) crashes Safari 4.0.

It needs to be fixed!

No problems here. Get rid of third party browser plug-ins.

Much better than the beta version. Tabs in the title bar were lame, and out of place. I don't mind the new "Loading" display indicator, much nicer than the tiny (almost invisible) spinning wheel. Not quite used to the integrated Stop/Reload button. I prefer it as a regular Toolbar icon. Top Sites sucks, thankfully it can be disabled. It is slow trying to watch pages load, even on a fast internet connection.

Initially, I didn't like Top Sites much either-it was way too slow to load and the previews were way to small to be of any reasonable use. However, it's grown on me substantially. Here is what I did:

1. Take the 4 most common sites I go to and "pin" them permanently where I want them. This way, they don't move, but update as needed, and the other two spaces change depending on my browsing habits. If I've been spending a lot of time looking at something I might not have bookmarked, it's easier to get back there than searching through the History.

2. Reduced the number of pages to 6. At 24, you can't see anything on a 13" screen. Even with only 6, you aren't going to get a ton of info, but for sites that update frequently (CNN for example), you can get an idea of what might have changed.

3. Set my preferences to open Top Sites when I open a new window or Tab (you can do different things for each if you like). If I'm going somewhere specific, I'd need to type the address or click a bookmark anyway, but if I'm just casually browsing, it can actually save some time or call out some interesting changes at one of my main sites that I want to see.

If you use this for real-time previews of a lot of sites, you're going to be disappointed, particularly if you're on a laptop-the stuff is just too darn small.

I use it more as a navigation menu, almost like having multiple home pages to choose from each time I open a window or tab sort of "your favorite favorites".

Certainly turn it off it you don't like or use it, but once I figured out how to make it work for me, I really like it.
