I wonder how long it's going to be before we start seeing games that will only run on the iPhone 3G S, due to the faster speed and more RAM. Probably not too many for a while, given the current installed base of iPhones, but some may decided to make higher-res versions of games for the new hardware.

"much as their was following Doom’s enormously successful release on the PC over a decade ago."
...much as there...

How about a remake of Commander Keen?

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. The 3GS looks very nice. Anandtech has some details posted on the new processor and graphics chip capabilities. I'll likely upgrade to the 3GS in another month or two once I get past the initial reports of issues, etc.

I'd love to upgrade to a 32GB iPhone 3G S. I got the 8 GB iPhone 3G, figuring that I would still carry my 80 GB iPod for music. I almost never carry it, though, and it's been a royal pain keeping my music collection down to the essentials.

For me, however, I won't be eligible for a (significantly) reduced price upgrade until at least December 29. At that point, I'm halfway to the next probable revision. I'll probably just wait until the next one. That'll teach me to skimp.

Was Doom originally a Mac game? I still have version 1 on my 150c.
Trivia ... , soz ;-)
