As my subject indicates, I'm curious if anyone knows what ATT is going to charge 1st generation iPhone owners after our two-year contract is up (which for some will happen in a couple of weeks) Will we have to pay for the more expensive 3G plan even though ATT is not subsidizing our phones?

You should call AT&T and ask them.
Generally, in my experience, phone companies will NOT make you go to a new plan as long as you do not change phones, etc. Now, my experience is with Sprint...who will let you keep "grandfathered" plans. It is possible that AT&T might not allow that since they have a "captured" market with the iPhone.
