I recently bought an Epson 4490 flat bed scanner. If I want to eventually make 8 x 10 prints, what resolution should I use in the scanner and how is that determined? Thanks

If you just want to do 8x10 you should be fine with whatever the default settings are in the drivers the scanner came with.

Thanks for the reply but I'm not sure what this means. I can set the resolution from 300 to 4800. Is there a default that is different or am I mixing things up?

I would recommend scanning with as much resolution as you can...but be prepared for less than desireable results. Flatbed scanners do not do that well with slides generally...you generally need a quality slide scanner. If your expectations are not to high, then you will likely be fine.

Hi

To add to this conversation I have an Epson colour printer but last time I printed photos I ended up with a white border areound the edge. I am pretty sure I cleared all opotions for a border when setting up to print. Any ideas on why this may have happened? Simon

I would suggest you create you own thread for your question. As it is, it is kind of buried in this thread and you are less likely to get help with your issue as most people will not know it is here.
