Oh well... my first big iPhone problem. At the finish of the 3.0 update procedure, I got an iTunes Store error message . So now I have an emergency only phone/brick that greets me like it doesn't know me. Guess I'll try again later.

===

Store error gone; phone activated; 3.0 functioning fine. A similar issue to mine over at Macfixit.com, both users with original iPhone.

I updated my iphone 3G and the operating language was changed to Japanese after the update! Now I do sometimes use the Japanese keyboard and I have the emoticons unlocked, but it was surprising that the update changed the primary language of the OS. I had to reset it manually to English in the settings.

Download when fine, but at the end, I got ".... activation server is busy. Try again later.
However the phone is not bricked, working in 2.2 mode just fine.

I hear penguins in Antarctica are complaining too.

As for Iran, no doubt he needed Tweetie working again in 3.0 to bypass the Mulla censors. :p

Mine did the same thing
Itunes store error, screen showing USB plugin & emergency call only.

I tried calling apple, but the message said they were not taking calls.

I shut the phone off & itunes off several times & got it to work

I just tried updating my iPhone. It got part way through the install and then I got an error message. My iPhone is now dead except for emergency calls and I keep getting an error message when I connect it up with iTunes. This is awful!! I've never had an Apple product go this wonky in the 20 years I've been a Mac/iPod/iPhone user.
Has anyone else had this happen?

I guess you were due then. Seriously I had the update hang and hang, finally just forced quit iTunes and then it was fine.

Was able to download without a problem. However, haven't been able to connect to an iPhone activation server. Keep getting a "try again later" message.

Turns out there was no problem. It just took a bit for the re-activation of the phone. iPhone 3.0 installed without difficulties, but it should say that there will be a lag while the phone is being re-activated with AT&T to prevent confusions.

My update went fine (although it took 30 minutes just to download)

- I have a 3G phone...but the "Find my iPhone" app doesn't work
- turned it on in settings
- made sure 'push' was enabled
- MobileMe can locate my phone

- maybe still working out the bugs.

BUT, what really SUCKS - AT&T
- no MMS support
- no Tether support

-- gee, sure wish we had a choice to switch to someone else.

AN UPDATE:

The Find my iPhone took a few hours to 'find' it...but works now.
- messages sent to the phone appear within seconds
--so naturally, I had to send my wife's iPhone a message this morning (without her knowing about the OS 3.0 upgrade yet): "Help me, I'm trapped inside this iPhone"...

Ok, wasn't expecting this: the install switched my language from English to Danish!!!! Huh? Seems kind of random.
