iPhone 3G S: Are you upgrading?

Upgrading a 16 GB 3G iPhone to a 32 GB iPhone 3G S.
I'm looking for the speed boost mostly. Next comes the extra 16 GB. Finally, Voice Control. The rest of the features aren't very interesting to me. I'll probably use the camera/video recorder a bit but that wouldn't entice me to upgrade.
I'm willing to pay the $200 premium for the early upgrade for the speed boost alone.
Update: I personally haven't had any trouble with AT&T since they improved the 3G service about 6 weeks after I got the iPhone 3G. The service in my area has been more than adequate.

No not upgrading, I have a 1st gen iphone that was purchased the first day it came out, and because I moved to another state and had the phone number changed, I now don't qualify for an upgraded phone. I'll wait till either verizon have the iphones or until the new dual core iphone comes out next year

I'm upgrading. I have the original iPhone. Upgrading to the 3G phone was not worth the upgrade to me a year ago. It wasn't true GPS, and AT&T's 3G network in sketchy at best, and I knew that one day there would be a worthy upgrade coming.
Today is the day. 3G, Video, true turn by turn GPS capability, voice control, stereo bluetooth. This is a worthy upgrade to me.

I'd upgrade to the 3G S in a heartbeat except for 2 things:
* Mandatory $30/month data plan without tethering. Are you kidding? Many ISPs don't charge this much. This wouldn't be an issue if the data plan were optional.
* AT&T - coverage in my area isn't real good. 3G will be useless at my house.
I'd gladly pay the upgrade price just to get the new phone. However, the extra monthly service charge for no added functionality is a non-starter for me. How did we ever get to the place where a $100/month phone bill is acceptable for one person?

Not upgrading at this time. The iPhone 3G I am using was bought in February 2009.
I would like to know why voice control requires a hardware upgrade? Is this an artificial distinction e.g. is the iPhone 3G hardware capable of running voice control, but Apple, Inc. is not including it to drive upgrades to iPhone 3GS?
If I would have suspected that voice control would require a hardware upgrade I would have waited for the iPhone 3GS. As it was I thought that the iPhone 3G would support voice control with a software upgrade. Bad assumption on my part.
Has anyone proven that voice control can run acceptably on the iPhone 3G hardware?

I was one of the first to get the first iPhone and overpaid. I stood in line five hours last July or whenever the first 3G came out to get my new upgrade. I can't tell you how upsetting it was to see that I would have to pay $200 extra to get a new one this time. After paying AT&T $120 a month I feel like I am being exploited by both AT&T and Apple if I want to upgrade. Of course I'm not going to upgrade. And by the way I'm an Apple consultant and have been responsible for at least 25 or 30 of my clients switching to iPhone. Every one asks me how I how like the new phone since they expect me to buy one. NOT THIS TIME!

I have the original iPhone and plan to upgrade to the 3Gs. But, I'll wait another 2 months or so until the commotion of the upgrade is over and the guinea pigs (I mean early adopters of course) have had a chance to flesh out any problems with the new phone. I have no desire to wait in lines or deal with problems relating to everyone trying to activate their new phone all at the same time.

I bought 2 iPhone 3G phones in August 2008 and switched from Alltel to ATT. I have experienced spotty but improved coverage from ATT and primarily use wireless rather than 3G network. I too have the extended coverage and according to the upgrade site I have a staggered upgrade pathway. 1/2010 and 4/2010 for each iPhone bought on the same day. I have the 16 GB 3Gs and I would not pay $500 + each to upgrade.
I feel as though for the first 3-4 months that I was a beta tester for the expanding ATT network and had many dropped calls until the second software upgrade. I feel as though ATT has forgotten how spotty the coverage was and this was in Raleigh NC and not in a rural environment.
Lastly, where is the N wireless? I find it hard to believe that ATT would be so business unaware. I was contemplating giving my iPhone 3G to my son and upgrading but I would not for $500 + dollars. I spend over $155 per month on my plan but not over $100 for a line so I am not eligible for ATTs newest offer. Indeed if ATT does not reconsider then I will wait probably a year and see if N Wireless Speed is available and if at all possible I would consider switching providers due to ATTs arrogant attitude. Why not offer same price to current customers and simply extend the contract?

I am not upgrading from my 3G iphone.
Apple is doing the bare minimum hardware wise in this upgrade, while
doing smart chip upgrades inside. my bet is this iphone is cheaper to
manufacture than the last 3g was when it first came out.
so they upgraded slightly the:
1- Chips
2- battery
3- camera, yes it can now do video, but... it is only 3 megapixels and
although it can focus. many other camera phones are just better, and no
led flash. sorry i think they could have stepped up to 5 megapixels
and.... 720p hd video.
4- software, 3.0 is the real upgrade here, but alot of tech, tethering and mms you cant use in usa.
does anyone know if the speakerphone is louder than before? the prior
speakers have been horribly low volume when compared to Blackberry's.
its time for apple to do more on the iphone! feels like they are doing the least hardware upgrade they can get away with each time. why? so they get some people to upgrade each year, but sorry... this time around most of it is yet again upgraded in the software. so... ill stick with what i got. why bother?
