I've been backing up my MacBook with Time Machine quite some time now, but a few days ago, I lost the Macbook. Now I'm stuck with an old Windows XP computer, and I have NO access to any Macs whatsoever. I really need a file right from the backup disk right now. So can anyone tell me how to find the old files or suggest an app to access files from the Time Machine backup external harddrive?
ps: On the XP, I'm using MacDrive 7, trying to find my old files, but there's nothing but 0kb folders and files. please help asap! ?:|

Using MacDrive is pretty much the only way to get Windows to recognize an HFS/HFS+ volume. As I do not have Leopard, I am not sure of how Time Machine handles its backups, but it may not be something that can be retrieved without Apple?s utility. Simply put, attempting to retrieve data from a Mac-formatted drive using Windows is a dice roll.

Try this: hem.bredband.net/catacombae/hfsx.html HFS explorer allows you to mount dmg, and HFS/+ formatted drives like that of Time Machine. Used it lots when I had an OSx86 Setup and When I ran Windows on my iMac.
