One thing I found is that when you type in email, then shake the phone, it asks if you would like to undo what you typed. That was a first for me. Check it out and let me know

that's the shake undo feature that was highlighted when they were demonstrating 3.0, it's in all the native apps

In Safari, you can make a web page look like an app. When you have a page open, press the "+", then select "Add to Home Screen". Make the name what you want it to be, select "add" and the icon will appear on one of your pages. When you press the new icon, it opens the web page. It could be considered a glorified/quick access bookmark.

Call forwarding status has also been added: if you set you phone to forward calls (settings ->phone ->call forwarding). An icon now appears on the status bar at the top of the screen to let you know that this has been activated.
Find my iphone will still generate a 'ping' when your calls are being forwarded.
This forwarding status has already saved me a couple of days where I wonder why the phone hasn't rung!!

Would have hoped that one could delete more than one photo at a time. If I take 200 photos I have to delete them one by one. Thought Apple was going to fix this glaring issue.

I sure wish we could type the grave accent on the iPod touch. Dunno if that works somehow on iPhone either.

I use the English keyboard as primary, and by tapping and holding any of the vowels (and some of the consonants) I can cause a list to appear above the key, containing grave, aigu, and other accent marks. Just slide your finger to the one you want.

Probably keyboard language-independent, because I can do the same when using the Japanese Romaji keyboard.

You could always make web pages into shortcuts. I've been doing it with ESPN.com since the first day I got my original iPhone.

There is a subtle change to your calls list in 3.0. It now has a little phone and arrow under the contact name or number if you made the call so it differentiates between calls received and calls made. Unfortunately they're still in the same list but it's a nice update.

So you still can't change the font in notes (everyone at Apple must have amazing vision since the rest of the population seems unable to read that horrid font).
Still no single click enable/disable bluettooth, wifi, etc (i.e. an icon that does not even take you to a screen but just turns it on or off without ever leaving the home screen).
And exchange mail is not improved? Another 2.2.1 user was complaining that when she accepts a meeting invitation on her iPhone 3G sent via an exchange server, that when she later looks at her mail on her PC (XP) that the mail is not flagged as having been replied too. I don't read mail on my iPhone (until you can zoom I can't read it), so is this a known problem? Any better on 3.0?
And how about the zoom feature in general? I was told by the iFile folks that the reason that zoom when say viewing a PDF, is limited is due to Apple not them. Its very frustrating as when you reach the limit, it doesn't actually stop at the max, but zooms and then snaps back so it CAN get bigger but doesn't. That irks me more than just about anything on the iPnone. It would be bad enough that zoom isn't unlimited as it is in safari, but to limit it to less than the actual max, apparently just to be "cool", is so infuriating (at least to those of us with less then 20/20 eyeballs! 8-). Its like they went out of their way to make the phone a bit harder for me to use (still easier than anything else of course but...)

Do you mean the grave accent by itself? Like this: `

If so, I don't know, but if you mean in conjunction with a character, i.e. "è", then you just click and hold the character and all different accidentals will show up after a second or so.

Kind regards, Marty

The map orientation feature is part of the iPhone OS 3.0 (software), but requires the brand new iPhone 3GS (hardware) to work, as it has a built-in digital compass to function.

Time to get a new phone, maybe? If you are interested in using your iPhone as a turn-by-turn navigator, I guess it would be worthwhile upgrading to the newest phone version. Or if you have the first generation iPhone. Just my $0.05 of thought.

@loneyrw

In short yes, apple in-ear headphones can control volume on the iPhone 3G S. I have a pair and they also can pause a track, skip a track and answer incoming calls. Pretty neat eh?

Contacts added a new label for phone numbers, home, work, mobile, pager, fax and the new one "iPhone". After thinking about it, what could that info be used for, if it was somehow gathered up from your address book?

The notification of an incoming text message now plays back more quietly when you are on the phone instead of blaring in the ears of both callers. Very nice improvement. Not sure about other notifications.

I have noticed in 3.0 that searching Calendar for a particular word only returns a year's worth of hits. I have entries going back at least 10 years.
Oddly, if I don't use a search string, I can view the entire list of entries. If I search for a word I know is in the location field, only a year's worth of entries are displayed.
Is this an "undocumented feature".
