I have to agree that these benchmarks seem incorrect. I had a MBA first generation. I have a macbook pro. I know my new MBA with an SSD drive is as fast or faster than any mac for light weight use like mail or surfing. It boots up very quickly. It's very snappy indeed! I love mine. It's a true LAPTOP and not a desktop replacement.

How can you call the Air “small”? Light yes, but how is it small? The footprint is identical to the real 13” MB/MBP, and the thickness difference is a truncated wedge of 1/5 to 4/5 inch.
And if you want versatile connectivity and add in the extra dongles and hubs the Air needs, it is even “less small” than the other 13 inchers.
In the real world, a 13” MB/MBP will fit anywhere an Air will fit. Now a netbook really is small and has all the advantages and disadvantages that go with being small.
Walk four miles home from work everyday, it makes a difference. The Air really does not need that much. Two USB ports would be great but most of the time I only have a Chill mat plugged in. To be able to plug it and a hard drive in would be nice, since I have the 1st Gen and it gets hot constantly. My music has been MP3 for years, and I have bought two CDs in the past two years. It has a webcam and if I want a wireless mouse there are a number of bluetooth ones out there. I also have a netbook and I have to say having a 13" screen has been A big comfort when I moved to China for keeping up with things versus my 10" Eee. Weighs less too, the Eee battery is a brick, I great long lasting one but a brick.

I have the 2.1 mode and love it. I keep my macbook pro for a few months and decided the mac air worked great for every day out and about. I have a Mac Pro if I need more power with a 30" Cinema Display. The air gets a a lot of attention by my clients. Fast light and durable!! Running windows 7 fine
