True, I'll download it and test it out at some point. That said, a side-by-side comparison of software that streams media from the Mac to the Xbox 360 and/or PS3 would make for a great Macworld article.

People might want to check out PS3 Media Server too. It has worked nicely the few times I have needed it. It requires a little setup, but nothing too bad.

From the developer:
"Playback was specifically tested against Rivet, Medialink, and other Mac media servers and wins by a long shot in both performance, and reliability on both wired and wireless networks. The technology powering Playback, also powers sites like YouTube and Wikipedia. We developed Playback specifically with speed, reliability, and features in mind."
I tried the demo its freaking awesome and way more complete than all the other ones out there. Their website is experiencing extremely heavy traffic so you may need to refresh while they sort it out I guess.
Personally, a fantastic start to a great app (and a great price)

I own both Medialink and Connect360. They are both great solutions. However, Connect360 can't access video that is connected to my mac via a hard drive, but Medialink can. This has proven to be quite a limitation.

Playback let me navigate through my entire hard disks. What I found particularly well thought of is if Im navigating my hard disk via the MOVIES section for example, then Playback will only show me the movies. In order words, I don't see any of the other files on my drive. Same for all the other sections, really really cool. Of course Playback also lets you pick specific folders to share but for those that can't be bothered, this little feature does all the work for you :)

@ t0ny Hey, thanks for the info. It would be nice to have those other files omitted! I'm definitely going to give his app a try.

So when they say "Playback integrates with iTunes", are they meaning that I can watch my video purchases from iTunes using Playback?
If so this might be the reason for me to finally upgrade to 10.5.

Only videos that are DRM free, which I think are just music videos.
